Our Frequently Asked Questions page provides quick answers to common questions about our veterans housing program, eligibility, services, and application process. It’s designed to help veterans and community members find the information they need easily and conveniently.

No. Veterans Care Arizona provides independent living housing only.
We do not provide treatment, therapy, medical care, detox, counseling, or any licensed behavioral health services.
Residents may receive services from outside providers of their choice.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. military veteran
  • Be experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
  • Be able to live in a structured shared home
  • Be independent in daily activities (we are not an assisted living facility)

Veterans can stay for as long as needed, depending on availability, house rules, and personal goals. While the average stay is 3–6 months, some residents may remain longer if space is available and they continue to comply with house expectations.

Yes. We offer non-clinical, supportive guidance, such as:

  • Connecting residents to community resources
  • Guidance on accessing VA programs and benefits
  • Peer support and encouragement

This is not clinical counseling or licensed treatment.

Yes, we welcome veterans with disabilities who can live safely and independently in a shared housing environment.

Yes. We maintain a drug- and alcohol-free living environment. We do not provide detox or treatment, but we require residents to commit to sobriety while living in the home.

No. Staff are available by phone and during scheduled visits. Residents must be independent and able to care for themselves.

We provide a clean kitchen and storage space, but residents are responsible for their own meals unless a partner organization donates food.

Case managers can submit referrals through our online referral portal.

There may be a program fee or rent contribution depending on the veteran’s income and funding source. We work to keep housing affordable and accessible.

Pets are not allowed unless stated otherwise.
